Free expired gas station food, and bean and cheese burritos were my college staples. My friend worked at a gas station and they were allowed to eat the expired stuff. It was still good, just couldn't sell it any more. Used to eat these packaged chili cheese dogs, but I used fresh buns. It was pretty good despite how it sounds.

Grits beats hard tack any day, although both are pretty meh.

I saw my father yesterday. He seemed happy I didn't forget about him, although it was late for Father's Day.

Yes! I used to buy frozen bean & cheese burritos by the case. Those were around $0.30 each. The ramen was $0.12 each when bought by the case. I remember getting all the free Panera Bread pastries I wanted because of a similar situation as your gas station food.

I haven't had any hard tack, but we are thinking about making some, just because. I love grits with butter.
