yeah the only way to prevent this kind of thing is keeping women from leaving the home. That was always tough to do as a man would need to go outside to go do work. He couldn't watch a woman 24/7. Sometimes they had eunuchs guard the women but that wasn't fullproof either. Nowadays maybe it is possible with camera technology.
