The problem is that we always try to "win" a conversation. It's how we've been taugth to behave. It's mostly ego fights.

Take a look at every issue; how differently they could be approached if we weren't angry at the other party.

  • Both anti and pro vaxxers want the best for their children!

  • Pro-lockdown people are for the safety of the public; anti-lockdown people are for the liberty of the public

We are taught to think in terms of extremes: "anti-vaxxers are lunatic moms who want to heal their children with magic stones" vs. "pro-vaxxers are gullible parents that won't question the safety of products from corrupted pharmaceutical corporations".

We've been taught to fight one another so that we don't question the system that exploits us.

This is so nice and well explained. Not every conversation needs a winner and 95% of the time everyone wants the same thing.

I fight on the internet because I don’t get to fight anywhere else. Maybe I should join a kickboxing gym if those open back up.

But IRL, I’ve learned to just ask people questions, mainly about themselves.
