I assume he means he will lock down your own device if you do not subscribe to their formerly proprietary overpriced garbage. Basically he will render your device as an expensive paperweight.
I can see why he is mad, I used to pay about 45 a year using first-party toner cartridges. That changed when I began using third-party toners at the cost of 3 dollars a year.

The manufacturer's response to third-party toner use is extreme and unreasonable, essentially holding customers' devices hostage.
