It ain't easy, I assure you.
Hydrogen has a rather hard to control combustion. It as well as the ignition timing are extremely dependent on piston geometry and materials.
Engines retrofitted for natural gas (CH4 in a very wide sense) are way easier to use with hydrogen. Especially when they have spark-plugs to control ignition timings better.
We are in the process of refurbishing an all-fuel engine model from Brazil and still scratching our heads often.

Nat gas has the same problems than hydrogen, in a smaller scale and hazard levels. Its still much more dangerous than traditional gasoline.
Id argue even electric is far more dangerous given that an explosion can cause a much bigger fire from the battery's components.

you did not tell us how you came to the conclusion that we are not going to run out of oil for a couple of generations?
even if that were the case, that is a pretty sad situation.
zombeh says that the world will run out of oil in the year _____.
fill in the blank, if you can.
fyi, when we run out of oil and we run out of fresh water, there is no legislation that can fix that problem.

It's fairly well accepted that there's about 40-50 years of oil left at our current use based on the known oil fields. A generation is what, 20-30 years? What exactly is wrong with my statement? Or are you just picking a fight? I said there is finite oil on the planet, meaning limited in size or extent, like there is finite water on the planet, are you a retard?
