Proper setup for an HP printer:
Unplug it.
Drop in nearest dumpster.
Buy a printer that isn't a piece of shit.
There are very few things in this world that I hate more than HP products, and those things have nothing to do with computers.
Don't get your hopes up Dell, you're only half a step behind them after dealing with your laptops.

Me too. I do all my printing mainly in a copyshop from big plans to stickers. They mainly use Konica Minolta except for the plotters which still are HP. Even though the ink costs more than blood or cognac per ml. But at least i don't have all the hassle with the "technical" problems.
Aside from a stone-age brother-fax we own no printers in our office because they're hassling us and me too much for the net worth they're giving.
