Why optical media is heavily underrated

I still miss my collection of thousands of CDs, some rare.

Also CDs etc can be bleached and ruined forever if left in the sun, ie on a window ledge - especially burnable discs.

My epic collection would have made for an interesting episode of storage wars. At the time I was powerless to do anything about it due to a tedious and tragic series of unfortunate events. I've since torrented more than enough to replace them but I miss the hard copies and album covers you could hold in your hands - as well as all my DJ notes and especially the rare and irreplaceable ones.
