Seems pretty cool. Now there's so much plastic everywhere, that if an enzyme evolves that can metabolize it, then it will have a chance to proliferate because there's more than enough "food"

Good news. As long as it's containable.

Were a bacteria to evolve and get wild with this or a similar enzyme and run rampant over everything from our computers to vehicles to refrigerators to oil paintings or whatever, all plastics or oil products may be at risk of "rusting".

Or maybe that's just the kick in the pants humanity needs.
