The depression in Germany was caused by American financiers and bankers, together with wrong-headed economic mismanagement by the chancellor Heinrich Bruning and president Paul von Hindenburg.

In Germany, it wasn't the Nazis who should get credit for overcoming the depression. It was the work of Hjalmar Schacht, the centre-right moderate economist and banker, who had served under the Weimar Republic and was co-founder of the German Democratic Party. He, not the Nazis, was the architect of the economic plan that boostered government spending and got the economy flowing again.

u/jacques1102 Germany wasn't bankrupt by the late 1930s, under Schacht's economic policies they were doing very well. Unfortunately after that time Germany, under the Nazis, started on their disastrous war, which crippled the country, literally resulting it it being cut in half.
