The invention of banking, credit, insurance, is really the greatest contribution that European culture gave to the human race. The Age of Discovery was made possible by the intellectual revolution that accompanied the development of the banking industry.

It's also led to the destruction of many cultures. It led to Europe FORCING it's "civilization and culture" to places that didn't need any of that BS. I support some things that came out of this modern era, but a whole heck of a lot of it has been shitty for most people. You whitewash history by pretending that everyone in the world benefits from the banking system. Industrialism is like nihilism. You don't stay here acting as if you just figured out the world. You use it as a way to leap forward, which has NOT been the case in the modern world.

The banking system is how private individuals can aggregate and spread types of risk, like construction projects, scientific discovery, invention, etc.

I mean, if you want to live in the 14th century, then I suppose your rejoinder makes sense. I prefer to live in the 21st century.

I'd like to live in the future, where we mix the best philosophies, practices, perspectives, and passions which come from EVERY century. The 21st century is like nihilism....its a jumping board to bigger and better things, but it isn't the end of the road. You people never understand my criticisms.

I can try again, good sir. This modern society has thrown the baby out with the bathwater. It does not live in a symbiotic relationship with the planet, instead, it rapes the planet for resources. It does not take responsibility for its generational-changes. ALL MODERN GOVERNMENTS ARE COMPLICIT TO ONE DEGREE OR ANOTHER. It does not take into account the ancient wisdom of the ages: spirit runs through all things. Instead, it scoffs at this ancient teaching (which can be found in ALL ancient cultures) and has brought about an age of "enlightenment" where humans disassociate themselves from their ancestors, from their very planet. You can try and argue that this is not so....but you would be an utter fool to attempt to do so. I am NOT saying that the past societies are to be held as a shining jewel to look back on and masturbate over. Every time I make these statements, some jerk-off like you tells me to go back-then and see how I like it. I'll tell you right now that I wouldn't like it very much, beyond the joy of being able to see that which is no more. However, the baby has been thrown out with the bathwater, and it fucking shows. If this still isn't clear to you, then I am sorry. I can try again and again, but you will have to realize this for yourself. No internet forum can teach this to you.

Banking, the LLC, commercial paper, insurance, credit, etc. was a huge cognitive leap that allowed individuals to work collectively. Our modern society is a product of this cognitive revolution.
