rendering unto ceasar's what is caeser's does not necessarily mean to give him taxes. It just means what it says. maybe people don't have anything of his that needs to be rendered to him...

that did mean pay your taxes but jesus was a bandit aka revoltuionary who definitely would not say pay taxes to caesar, that part was put in the bible long after jesus died and when Romans wanted to use the religion to make jews stop revolting against their rule.
