No, not really. Stalin was mush more nationalistic than Trotsky.

why out of power though. He wanted russia to spread worldwide socialism, stalin believed in socialism in one country. They supported some east erupe countries and cuba and such but Trotsky rightly predicted capitalist countries would bribe russian leaders and corruption would bring the country to ruin.
