Imo it's not mutually exclusive. Too many underperforming kids are given speed and that's not right. And even if they would benefit from stims, giving those to developing children sounds like a terrible idea.

Although it doesn't mean the meds don't help. One example is trying to pay attention to something, say a movie. Normally I put on a movie and I'm reading a book or writing comments online. I can't just sit there and watch just the movie unless it's particularly engrossing, which few are. I take a stimulant and all of a sudden I don't feel this compulsion to keep switching what I'm doing as my brain goes off on another tangent. It's nice to be able to sit through a movie.

Do you have the same problem if you are watching in the cinema?

I'm not an asshole, I mean I don't try to be, I'm not disturbing everyone else in a theater with my phone, so usually I end up falling asleep if the movie isn't engaging.
