Let me do this one step better.. I AM NOT QUOTING DOCTOR MARTIN LUTHER KING AND I AM NOT QUOTING FDR..

I AM QUOTING MYSELF.

The only thing we should fear is fear itself. ~me.

i did not know that this quote was originally stated by FDR.. but then, it has probably been spoken by many other great men from before him also..

one of the shortcomings in our "forum based societies" is that you and i are not friends and we are not connected and we are not united.

instead, we are divided. we dont know each other.. we dont know who the next person is or isnt.

It's unfortunate you feel that way.

I give every person* I meet (in person and online) the benefit of the doubt and treat them fairly and like an equal until they exhibit their flaws by which I'll treat them accordingly.

* Except for every "authority" I see or meet, as I always start from a position of skepticism and distrust since they pretend to hold some higher position than me or others, and often they wield threats against me because they have a monopoly on violence, lawfare, banking, or other means to diminish my life and freedom.

Let me say this again... do i know you? do i have any idea from where you located? have we ever spoken with each other? every been over to my place for a barbecue? yeah, i didnt think so..

as i was saying, i dont know you..

i dont know where you are from.. i dont really know what your agenda is.. i dont know you..

and you probably do not see this as a problem that needs to be resolved, sitewide.

every been over to my place for a barbecue?

Does any of that matter?

I've had BBQ with relatives who can go fuck themselves. I know them well. We have nothing in common. I've had friends and acquaintances I've known become untrustworthy. This is not unique to online or real world. I could be justifiably paranoid about everyone everywhere. Most interactions and most people are decent. I don't need to know someone to give them the benefit of the doubt. I also don't have to be an idiot and give everyone my wallet or temp them like a soft target.

Most folks on SaidIt are anonymous and I respect their wishes and needs to do so. We all have different comfort issues and different responsibilities. Some people have jobs, family, or other things they need to protect. I use my real name and my address in Windsor, Ontario, Canada is no secret. I chose not to live in fear and suspicion. Maybe I'm a good example, maybe I'm an example of what not to do.

as i was saying, i dont know you..

So? Don't correspond with me if you don't want to. Read about my agendas: /u/JasonCarswell or on InfoGalactic. I'm an open book.

and you probably do not see this as a problem that needs to be resolved, sitewide.

What's the problem?

[–]skeech 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

What's the problem?

do you not recognize that there is small laundry list of noticeable problems with this and most online forums?

that is fine with me..

it dont bother me..

Do you really think I'm that daft?

Of course there are problems and issues and even paradoxes that can't be solved - technical, GUI, social, management, meta, etc.

I've made lists of lists. Feel free to dive in as deep as you like:
https://saidit.net/s/IdeasForSaidIt/wiki/index

You're welcome to fix all the problems if you can. Feel free to start new if you like and fix them there if that suits you. If it's FLOSS and decentralized/distributed we'll migrate to your platforms.

perhaps you are forgetting that i am a programmer with almost forty years of experience.

i can see the problems that exist in this website so easily.

when i look at this website, it is like staring thru a piece of broken glass.

i briefly reviewed your list of problems, and you are putting bandaids on a sinking ship.

fyi, i am not much fun to work with.

I too dislike the commies.

watch this... i am betting nonazis_nocommunists doesnt really know what it is that he doesnt like about communist people...

because technically, commune-ism is probably the most wonderful and humane way to live.. to live in a commiune where everyone shares and is equal..

so, what is it that you dont like about commune-ism?

[–]JasonCarswellVoluntaryist 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

I'm not against cooperative communes.

"Free love" hippie communes are only good for the alpha-males and the women who get their seeds. But that's a bad stereotype yet is why so many of them failed.

No one is equal, but everyone should be treated fairly. And sharing resources is good. It always seems absurd walking around my neighbourhood that everyone has a garage with the same shit when 6+ houses could share 1 lawnmower and set of tools, etc. and be much better off with better gear. Obviously each house should have their own fundamental toolkit. But we're trained to consume, trained to be individuals rather than communities, and now we're addicted to our screens.

The problem with communism is that the party decides what is good for you and you better like it or else - and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Be the government or suffer the consequences. Communism may try to be fair in theory but is never fair in reality as subjective human judgementalism and favouritism always seeps in.

the powers that exist have convinced you that it is impossible to live in peace and that the only chance that you have is to sit around and complain and argue all day.

you are doing a great job.

[–]JasonCarswellVoluntaryist 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Nonsense.
