Notice how carefully he avoids the topic of who owns the media.

Deplorables can "pass as white". I wouldn't know until they say some ignorant / offensive shit. Eh, I guess they could wear it on their clothes, or display it on their vehicles.

'Deplorables' are white. That's why Hillary labeled them deplorables.

Indeed. Blacks are apparently "super predators".

'Deplorables' are white.

Yes, that's why they can pass as white.

That's why Hillary labeled them deplorables.

Lol, no it isn't.

What did she tell you?

[–]FreedomUltd 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (9 children)

I've observed that not all white people are deplorables, and therefore deplorables are not deplorables because they are white.

I've actually never heard any reason other races can't be deplorables.

They're not really deplorables, which is why we're using Hillarys meaning. While there probably were non-whites who otherwise fit the description, hillary was effectively talking about Whites when she said that.

I'd say she was talking about Trump supporters.

“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic —you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”

White trump supporters.

racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic

I don't see where she said only white people are racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic...

Are you saying that?

This is such a gem of a comment. It does so many things so well, it deserves some kind of award. Let's break it down.

The thesis of this comment thread is that leftists do not understand conservatives and are inventing new prejudices against them. This comment goes on to author a brand new prejudice.

Then there's the "pass as white", which means "not one of us", which in simpler terms means "you are The Other." That the American people are The Other to the left has been noted for quite some time. Here's an outstanding essay that goes into the concept in detail and does an excellent job of describing the concept. It posits that the Western Right's outgroup is people who aren't Westerners, BUT the Western Left's outgroup is the Right. This link is the best explanation I've ever heard. A bit long but worth reading every word because it answers SO many questions.

Then there is the "wear it on their clothes" comment, which rides on the coattails of the dehumanizing rhetoric. This is what the Nazis made the Jews do, because the Jews could "pass as white". What you're seeing is future concentration camp guards being prepared with the necessary mental tools to man the machine gun towers.

Oh you poor, oppressed crackers.

It posits that the Western Right's outgroup is people who aren't Westerners, BUT the Western Left's outgroup is the Right.

The right's outgroup is far larger. Saidit is a great place to see who y'all hate - kikes, mooslums, niggers, faggots, libruls... that list is surely far from complete. The time you spend being haters is almost as significant as the time you spend whining about being called haters, and protecting your behavior onto others.

And no one is making you wear the maga hats, or fly the Trump flags from your pickups.

Oh you poor, oppressed crackers.

Yeah, punch down! Going after the big guy, punching up, is an act of nobility. Going after the little guy, punching down, is an act of bullying. You tell those poor working class what's up! Speak truth to the powerless!

For fucks sale, stop feeling sorry for yourself, and give me something new to work with. It's boring to have to say "oh you poor, poor oppressed crackers" a second time.

It's just nice to see the article's premises confirmed that new prejudices are being crafted and bigots proudly wearing their bigotries on their sleeves.

[–]FreedomUltd 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (24 children)

In my experience on Saidit, so far, most conservatives actually have enough shame to not be the prejudiced calling others prejudice, and playing the victim, quite so obviously.

[–]Chipit[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (23 children)

But the far left tells us they are the ones without prejudice. The ones who are loving, accepting, tolerant, etc. Now we find that this was all a lie, and that they have merely rearranged their prejudices.

If you think Saidit is representative of conservatives in general, you are mistaken. But, this is a big problem with the far left; they have a completely mistaken idea of what the right thinks. Johnathan Haidt talks about this here, "they're trained carefully basically how to discredit your opponent. They learn to slur, they do not learn to argue."

[–]FreedomUltd 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (22 children)

Are you saying that the right is prejudiced, but it's ok because they're very open and honest about it?

If you think Saidit is representative of conservatives in general, you are mistaken.

Don't be so hard on yourselves, you're not all Gab.

Classic divide and conquer. Push people of different political ideologies towards feeling like they have a group to look down upon.

Turn off the tv, radio, skip the movies, and don't pick up newspapers and magazines. Pick up a book published and edited before 1960 instead.

Interesting that this suggests deplorables are "lower-class". The ideas of "deplorable" as I understand them are shared throughout the class spectrum. There are a lot of ruling class people Hillary deplores. I agree with you that this is the "emotional color" that has been attached to the term, but reinforcing it this way leads to interesting questions of self-identity within the group.
