Oh, and here I thought it was that he was simply larger and older than her, and took the initiative as the elder sibling. I'm sure in many cases an older sister would do the same for her younger brother as well. These roles that you are assigning them are those of mature adults, postpubescent if you will. There are no men or woman in this story. Only heroes.

Its instinctual from you're born, but you're right that an elder sister would also protect the younger brother in such a situation :)
