A guy dated a 16 year old on japan and she commited suicide. Someone called him a pedo. I said 16 year olds are legal and japan actually increased age of consent from 13 to 16, as 16 is the average around the world.

Ehh....while I agree that 16 years old is a perfectly legal age but I think adults shouldn't really date teenagers anyway, for their own sake. Too many adults are predators and it's not safe for teenagers to date them.

Whenever I hear this age gap talk I just think as being a feminist slippery slope of eventually labelling any old male who gets with a short woman or a young woman (be it in their 20's) as a predator. Woman unintentionally are saying that they are incapable of agency, of logical reasoning and like Mr Biden Slippy Hands constructs the narrative that you should only get a boyfriend after 30 years old. When you run out of good eggs lol.

I don't see how a 40 year old male can be more or less manipulative than a 18 year old when having sex with a 16 year old. He can led lies such as "taking responsability" and "marriage if you get pregnant" and running away. With the 40 year old, you know he is more keen on using protection and has resources to actually take care of a child if he chooses to do so.

The true reason the age gap is any point of discussion at all is 40 year old woman. They know they can't get 20 year old males, but 40 year old males can get 20 year old woman. And that makes them mad, they want the 40 year old dudes to go for them and not the women still with their eggs. But they make so much noise even the dudes come to the defense. The whole age gap discussion is so idiotic.

40 years old with 16 years old? While not illegal of course, but that's kinda gross and cringe, no way it would be healthy, normal relationship. Also, huge age gaps have significantly big divorce rates, it's not really worth it, way too much drama.

But for casual sex it's perfectly fine, I guess. It's absolutely not pedophilia, 16 years old perfectly know what sex is.

I'm willing to aggre not because it's gross or whatever but because I don't believe even 18 or 20 year olds are mature enough for marriage, ideally you want to marry at 24 years old because that's the age the brain is fully formed while at least on a 1 year normal relationship.
