You'll notice that she didn't take legal action. She threatened legal action.

In doing so, she basically doxxed him. Because she's as famous as she is, she's got fifty different newspapers printing that the guy's name is Jack Sweeney and he lives in Florida.

Right now, Jack Sweeney's inbox is undoubtedly filling up with death threats. As always, most of them are performative, but there are one or two absolute fucking lunatics out there - John Hinckley Jr. types who would kill for Taylor.

Which means that Jack is almost certainly about to go dark on the Internet, if he hasn't already, and wait for this whole thing to blow over.

And that means Taylor gets what she wants and never has to actually file the lawsuit.

He's not been shy about that much information himself: https://twitter.com/Jxck_Sweeney.

I'm not 100% this isn't going to Streisand effect her high jet use.

That would surprise me a bit. Swifties have more brain cells per capita than MAGA hats. Just because Trump's sycophants are violent terrorists doesn't mean everyone's are.

The reporting seems to be that a lot of Swifties are disappointed in her about this.

You're joking right? Any SANE person does not refer to themselves as a "swiftie" or would even go out of their way to harass anyone because they said something bad about someone who makes music they like.

Any fan of that degree is a fucking lunatic.

My proof is that normal people in their right mind are not rabid idolizing fans of celebrities.

    [–]ActuallyNot 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

    True that.

But a magahat is more likely to be rabid and idolizing than a swiftie.

Swifties seem to be capable of independently deciding that this particular action is disappointing.

Whereas there's 4 criminal cases ongoing against Trump, and I think his sycophants believe that it's a conspiracy of the DoJ and the judicial system.

Are you really arguing which group is worse? What do MAGA people have to do with Taylor Swift being called out for hypocrisy of jetting all over the place when she tells other people to stop doing it. I've seen fans of artists dox people, swatt them and send death threats. They are just as unhinged as any other nut job.

The Guardian article is slightly less paywalled.

“While this may be a game to you, or an avenue that you hope will earn you wealth or fame, it is a life-or-death matter for our Client,” Katie Wright Morrone wrote in the letter, the Post reported.

Swift has dealt with several stalkers in recent years. A 33-year-old man was charged with stalking and harassment just last month after acting erratically near the singer’s New York City home.

Okay. That might fly in court.

Morrone added that there was “no legitimate interest in or public need for this information, other than to stalk, harass, and exert dominion and control”.

That's not true. Sweeney estimates the carbon footprint of celebrities.

Paine has previously told the Post that criticism Swift faces for her private jet use is inaccurate as she often loans the jet for others to use.

Which reduces the privacy invasion aspect, to my mind.

More recently, Facebook and Instagram had disabled Sweeney’s social media accounts that track Swift’s private jet activity, arguing that they violate rules on privacy, the Post reported.

Possibly they think Swift has a sound argument then. Or possibly she's powerful and they don't want to take her on.

Long shot. I guess the people who feel that way certainly won't vote for Trump who moved the US embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem.

... You think Biden is committing Genocide ... in Gaza.

Long shot. I guess the people who feel that way certainly won't vote for Trump who moved the US embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem.

It is important to have a nuanced understanding of the situation in Gaza and the role of the United States in the region. The issue of whether Biden is committing genocide in Gaza is a complex one, with many different perspectives. It is important to consider all of these perspectives in order to form an informed opinion. Some people believe that the United States' support for Israel is a form of genocide against the Palestinian people. They point to the fact that Israel has been occupying Palestinian territory for over 50 years, and that the Israeli military has killed thousands of Palestinian civilians. They also argue that the United States' financial and military support for Israel gives Israel a free pass to commit human rights abuses against the Palestinians. Others argue that the United States is not responsible for the actions of Israel, and that Israel is a sovereign state that is capable of making its own decisions. They also point out that the United States has provided humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, and that it has worked to promote peace in the region. Ultimately, the question of whether Biden is committing genocide in Gaza is a complex one that cannot be answered easily. There are many different perspectives on this issue, and it is important to consider all of them in order to form an informed opinion.

All presidents supported Israel against Palestine. Even Obama, who sympathized in what he thought was private about having to deal with Netanyahu, but especially republican ones.

You think Tucker is a republican because he pushes the fox news lies.

To push fox news lies all you need to do is take money from Putin. Or whoever is pushing the anti-europe, anti climate-science, anti-Ukraine agenda that appears to line up exactly with Putins.

At least Joe doesn't want to pardon the January 6 traitors.

Do you think January 6 was good?

      [–]WoodyWoodPecker 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Jan 6 wasn't as bad as the Ferguson riots that burned down buildings and massively killed people.

Congress is corrupt and needs a wake up call. Jan 6th was the start of the Civil War 2.0 IMHO.

      [–]Saiditaccount1 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

The ferguson riots were independently caused. The DNC didn't endorse them, Obama didn't offer to pardon them, and they didn't attack our Capitol or election process. In other words that was a private terrorist attack, this was a terrorist attack with treason in it approved by the RNC and the President (for he specially desires to pardon them.)

If you like Jan 6 and want another civil war, I think you should move to Saudi Arabia so you can experience what a dictatorship is like because that's what you want. Also we don't want you in America, this place is for Patriots.

      [–]WoodyWoodPecker 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't want a civil war or a dictator. Liberals are tyrants and very corrupt. Jan 6 I don't like but it is a sign that citizens are uprising.

Curious what right to privacy law she will have her attorney use. I would think that flight plans mandatory are not privileged maybe I'm wrong. I remember learning long time ago that trash can you set outside for pickup = fair game for any cop to search through no warrant needed because you set your shit out in public. So, why would this kid looking up and posting her flight plans be any different? Or is the kid somehow threatening her trying to extort some money?

      [–]Drewski[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

It's the same thing as the Musk flight logs... she has no case to stand on, it's public information.

It is, but if it's used for stalking, there are laws against that in every state. It's normally a felony with several years jail time and/or a fine of $10k+.

Until the far right began attacks on her, no one cared about her fans (as we don't care about other fans of other pop singers), no one called them a cult, and no one should be taking this much interest in pop singers. It's stupid.

      [–]DirewolfGhost 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

There you go, blaming the victim with your favorite slurs.

      [–]Bitch-Im-a-cow 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

The stalker - posting her flights on social media - is a victim?

(The level of cognitive dissonance necessary for your argument is reminiscent of the authistic spectum mental gymnastics of MAGAtards.)

      [–]DirewolfGhost 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Stalker is a slur. Vocal (though vocal is voice and English is yet to have an accurate word for online written public declaration) observer is more accurate. MAGAtards is another slur. Do you always rely on slurs to fuel your social powerplays? Interesting pattern. Are you a "Slurtard"?

Paralegal here. Flight plans are public record. It doesn't matter who you are. Taylor is a hyped up celebrity who is full of herself. You can look up any flight plan you want just by going here: https://www.faa.gov/uas/resources/public_records

She can threaten all she wants, hell her attorney can send a very "scary" and legal sounding letter, but when it comes down the brass tacks in front of a judge, she can't do shit and neither can her attorney. People like this really piss me off, they will drag out something in court because they have the money to, not because they are in the right.

      You can't "stalk" a plane.... ffs 🙄

Hell you can't even get on the damn tarmac unless you're an employee or a passenger. And only then until you have gone through security, so please oh wise one explain to us how this causes her ANY harm at all...

The only thing this is hurting is her hypocritical bullshit rhetoric about climate change and how people should do their part to fix it, then hop in her fucking private jet and fly wherever the fuck she wants to. This is basically her just saying "The pheasants and people below me need to do their part, I will continue to do what I've always done, so fuck the rest of you." Celebrities don't want to be labeled as hypocrites, and this is the only thing this is doing to her.
