the victim’s uncle rejected the notion that the young father was robbing the store.

How could the uncle possibly know this?

Well, because the clerk is Latino and the criminal is black. Obviously the criminal wins the oppression olympics and a relatives vague, anecdotal testimony means more than video.

Sucks for the clerk, and I don't begrudge him defending himself, but it's way too risky using an illegal gun. Let me guess, he couldn't buy a gun legally because of his felony record.

Not familiar with NY gun laws, are we?

No, not at all. I just assumed they'd be crazy strict. I thought you couldn't by a gun anywhere if you have a felony record?

That's true, but it's practically impossible to get a permit in NY unless you're LEO or you know someone.

You mean concealed carry, right? Shouldn't be hard to buy/register a gun if you have a clean record, but yeah, you have to open carry unless you can get a concealed carry.

In NY you can't even own a pistol without a permit. No open carry.

New York gun laws are very strict.
