Why? They didn't stop the trans kid from playing on their team (well, I'm sure they wouldn't allow it, which would be a violation, I guess), they just refused to play in a tournament. Is it required they participate in all tournaments?

very clearly trying to force others to do what they consider right

and if every school did this, it would end the madness quickly

((they)) want to avoid that at all costs

people need to stop caring about playing within their 'reality'

Thing was, "the trans kid" wasn't a player on their team. That individual was on an opposing team they were slated to play next. This went against their sense of fairness (being that these were females playing against a biological male) and so they took a forfeit which knocked them out of the tournament.
The Vermont sports governing body then decided to bar them from any and all tournaments. If I recall the team that did have "the trans kid" on it lost their match. So there's a little irony in the whole thing.

They gotta send the political message because they realize it could spread.

In reality the best way forward isn't for the teams to simply refuse to play against other teams with trans women, all the women's teams need to refuse to play with trans women period. And yes that does mean now that you're gonna have to quit the team and walk.

In the short term that sucks. But when trans women get on a team and find they are the only player, they're no longer gonna get their rocks off by winning.

Trans women... You're absolutely right on taking a stand, and how that means suffering in the short term, and I thought the same thing where you wrote that it was political and they were sending a message lest it spread.
Here's the tiny bit of irony, when a female was allowed to join a male dominated sport like football, and they allowed her to be the kicker, the female had to prove themselves an the team had to prove themselves because having an actual biological female was a handicap.
They are called the (physically) weaker sex for a reason.
However when a "trans woman" (biological male) joins a team, that team has a tremendous advantage strengthwise.
So what would have been cause for celebration when an actual woman proves herself in a sport dominated by men therefore proving to be exceptional, all this is lost when a biological male joins a female team. That male and that team aren't doing anything other than low key cheating.
If I stick an elon musk robot with a stuffed brazier on a team as a trans woman, I hope all the teams play "her" and get disqualified if they don't. Who will have the last laugh then?

Yes the men's teams are more like "open divisions" where anyone who qualifies can play, it just so happens that most everyone who qualifies are men, same reason blind people aren't bared from the men's team. They'd be welcome if they could somehow compete at that level but most likely cannot.

When it comes to sports specifically strength, being female is a physical disadvantage ergo it's a handicap. It wouldn't be fair for someone who isn't handicapped to play in the handicapped league.

They should start their own actual girls' league.

Okay. So start your own league. Fuck the principals board.
