You're blaming the victims for a stupid reason. How do you know they are trying to avoid anything? Maybe that is just where their family or work is located. They could be living up there for many reasons. And it implies it is their fault they got snowed in. Should we refuse to help the earthquake victims of Antakya Turkey trapped under rubble because they "wanted to live far away" from remote areas without tall buildings?

I'm not blaming the victims. The local community there has banded together and are helping each other with food, snow removal, and welfare checks. It's in the culture of these rural areas. Maybe this "Help Us!!" is someone not as accustomed to life there. You're right, though. Maybe that person ended up there due to some situation with family.
