Most manufacturers and distributes have already settled. This begins finalizing the settlements from the biggest end consumer distributing pharmacies.

These tiny $5B and $7B payments to a handful of states are a travesty to the public and an disgusting slap on the wrist, completely admitting no wrong doing. None of this goes to the those injured, instead to state and counties government funds to deal with the ongoing opioid crisis.

Many times these companies turned an overt blind eye to pill-mill doctors, fake prescriptions, and serious red flags, to rake in massive profits off of drug addiction. The level of corporate profiteering in the face of such clear red flags, could easily be argued criminal endangering and racketeering in many instances. Instead, the finalization of these lawsuits will mark the complete lack of being held the least bit criminally liable for any one involved and sweeps the whole thing under the rug. More lawsuits will surely be attempted after this, but this will likely be the biggest and the last to get much notoriety.
