Corporal punishment has a small but negative effect on levels of moral internalization, quality of the parent–child relationship, and mental health in childhood and adulthood , as well as with higher levels of aggression in childhood and adulthood, antisocial behavior in childhood and adulthood , risk of being a victim of physical abuse and risk of abusing own child or spouse as an adult.

A school shouldn't have policies that damage the outcomes for their students, however modestly.
