They say that every single time. I saw it in person, as well as the "Super Blood Wolf Moon" one, and both times NASA's images must've had the saturation slider as far to the right as possible. In real life it's more of a brownish red, and dark enough that you probably won't pick it out of the sky if you aren't looking for it.
