You can turn off reply notifications. Blocking comments goes against the whole point of a forum.

no... i am saying that if i were to start a thread and someone comes in and craps all over it in an offtopic kind of way, troll style, i could disallow them from posting in my thread... and all of their posts would be removed from my thread.

this would give the OP of a thread moderation privileges in that thread only.

the flip side of it is that if i were to block you from posting in a thread where i am discussing topic X then you could also begin a similar thread and you could block me.

it would allow a forum to be more free and open, which really isnt what most forums want... it is my opinion that most forums really want to create a clusterfuck.
