Well Aktually.....This was very uncommon prior to vaccines being widely used. ( minus shellfish, that can be hit or miss ) And you still can't put 2 & 2 together.

Where are you getting your commonality of anaphylactic shock due to reaction to peanuts, milk and eggs from that goes back that far, without being confounded by the increased capacity for diagnosis?
