Interesting phrasing. During our existence, all behaviors we exhibit are pretty much "on our time", which putatively lasts from conception to the point our soul departs our mortal coil.

Is it possible to be outside our own time? What is our status when we're not in our time? Do we technically not exist at that moment? Are we in a kind of non-existent stasis while outside our time? How do employers feel about these time gaps in ones history, assuming they're of some duration?

Perhaps it's like a second character we make in a vidya game, where each character necessarily must share their 'time' with the other character, and can only joke or exhibit other behaviors on their [own] time.

While I'm replying, I'll just point out that it could be considered 'mixed-messaging' to spend time composing an angry reply to inform someone that you don't care about them or their jokes. I mean, it's almost like you care a lot, if you see what I'm saying.
