This is false. Foster didn't fire his weapon per Austin PD. Source from the exact same website: https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/07/austin-police-confirm-two-people-opened-fire-shooting-black-lives-matter-protest/

You're a piece of shit for lying about it.

Why do you have to be so aggressive? There is a chance that OP believed, as many did, the initial reports and have not seen the updated information. The reports seemed credible to anyone who heard the audio, two distinctly different firearm sounds. It's not far fetched to have thought one of those weapons fired was held by Foster. It's not far fetched to think that standing only 30-some hours from the event occurring, not everyone has seen the most updated information.

Actively spreading false information is a form of conflict escalation. Even if OP just doesn't care about truth it is reckless.

It seems you have completely neglected to read the comment or use common sense.

Every person is misinformed to some degree and thus spreading false information--this includes you and I. It may also include OP. You are correct, false information is deleterious, I agree. I just question the efficacy of further escalation through insults.

Police have not yet determined what charges either shooter will face, if any.

I'm not sure the guy who shot Garrett did anything wrong legally even if he did fire first. He was surrounded by an angry mob armed with guns trying to yank him out if his vehicle. Unless it turns out he deliberately accelerated into the crowd in an attempt to kill someone (which seems unlikely as he braked) he's got a good case that he believed his life in danger.

Cops are going by eyewitness reports at this time which are always shady as hell. We'll need to wait for the ballistics to be sure.

What no-one is asking is that if the first salvo of five shots was the driver firing at Garrett, where did the other four bullets go?

One adult male victim was located with a gunshot wound,”

I'm inclined to withhold judgement until there's been a proper investigation. Right now what we have are media outlets and pundits pushing whatever best fits their perspectives. It's all over the place. Some claim that Garrett fired first, which seems to be a bit dubious. Some claim he was pointing his rifle at the car, and photos seem to support that. Some claim the driver had 'barrelled' through a crowd, which seems odd given that we don't have a whole bunch of people with injuries from being knocked down by a car. Some are claiming that the driver been driving around, shooting at people.

We'll have a better picture once the police have been able to piece together the events of the evening.

Yes, I noticed that. The only injured party coming to light is Garrett. Many gunshots too, only one injury. Where did the rest of them go? Does the car have bullet holes?

I ask because in another similar incident a rioter fired into the engine of a car trying to get through.

I've learned that eyewitness accounts are probably the least reliable evidence around. Plus people do lie. I'm waiting for ballistics and an audio assessment of the gun shot noise. Not that I think it matters a whole bunch unless they can show the driver was ploughing through the crowd.

Yeah, eye witness accounts are flakey at the best of times let alone when everything is so polarised. I wouldn’t even accuse witnesses of lying. They probably believe what they claim were the events of the night.
