Yes, non-native speakers of English don't talk like that. It's ddefinitely done by computer. In fact, I don't understand just what this site is even about.

I am an Old Person. I have to admit there is a lot of strange stuff going on with the internet that I do not understand. Why are people here posting old news stories and then replying with random nonsense when anyone posts a comment?

I am not so young myself. Recently saidit has attracted a lot of new users and some of them are not interested in making saidit a better site. It seems they want to make it less attractive to potential new members who are coming here for the first time or maybe they want to drive off users who have been here for a while. That is only speculation though. You mean for example the person who posted the same spam on fourteen different subs today? I've never seen that user before and never seen anyone post to that many subs before.

You've probably heard of Voat. They get attacked all the time but then that site is full of hate. The only explanation I can think of is now, with the continuing breakup of reddit there may be a lot of malicious people dropping by here to muddy the waters. Also, saidit, I think, has a lot of truth and some groups, including political orgs and various intelligence agencies, do not like too much truth. Part of the spam may be robots that some of those groups have turned loose here. There are definitely some bots here.

My answer was not so good but I've been distracted for a couple of days and was not paying close attention. I'm glad we're getting along better now.

Is Reddit really breaking down? I have no figures and the taunting I see here seems to be sour grapes.

You mean taunting in the last couple of days? It could be related to the riots. That is, people who can't join in the actual riots are maybe trying to do the same sort of thing but in virtual space, online. If you're referring to me a few weeks ago, I apologize but didn't understand your intentions back then. It's so easy to misunderstand people online, isn't it?

As for reddit, people started leaving back before Trump was elected, mainly because people with certain political views were harassed by moderators. Unless you have Politically Correct views on a range of topics, your comments can be deleted or you can be shadow banned, meaning you think everything is all right but your comments are not seen by anyone else. Some have been outright banned from reddit also. That is why saidit's user base is growing so fast: people are fed up with reddit and are leaving in droves. This is not to mention that there are internal problems at reddit. I never go there at all now.
