And the vertical line down the middle of the US is kind of wild, how abrupt the drop off is as you go west.

That is interesting. Just west of the Missouri River.

That's a decent location for a homestead bunker; assuming there's a local source of water.

Not many trees before the mountains.

The plus side would be you could see anyone coming for about half a mile.
