IQ Scores for Adopted Children of Various Races - When Raised by White Parents

Something I thought interesting was how every other race besides mulattoes had IQ scores that remained consistent with their races average IQ. Mulattoes on the other hand had an increased average IQ relative to the average IQ of their race, when raised by white parents.

I'm curious about your thoughts on the topic.

American mulattoes are a tricky category. American blacks are about 25% white, to begin with. Mostly British. So when they mate with a white person, their offspring is about 62.5% white. I guess being raised in a white environment allows them to more attuned with their white side, as they're majority white genetically.

That was my theory as well.

American mulattoes are a tricky category. American blacks are about 25% white, to begin with. Mostly British. So when they mate with a white person, their offspring is about 62.5% white.

I am aware of that, which would explain the difference if the mulattoes had an IQ the mean between the blacks and whites used in the same study. However, the mulattoes have an average IQ higher than the mean between those other races.

Well, phenotypical expression is generally a polygenic affair. There's no guarantee that a mix within a white and black person would produce a child that has an average of their iqs. The resultant child could have an IQ higher or lower than the average.

I think there's a selection bias as well. Lightskins are privileged in the black community and due to their better aesthetics, its likely they'd be preferred for adoptions as well. Attractive orphans are much more likley to get adopted. I think these mulattoes might be as high as 70-75% white.

We also have to keep heterosis (hybrid vigor) in mind. When offspring have parents from two diverse populations, they exhibit enhanced fitness. This is usually meant to refer to strong immune systems as a result of high heterozygosity from the two populations, but it likely applies to IQ as well. That would explain a large percentage of the big 'bump' with mixed black/white kids.

The higher the mutt IQ = they make smarter criminals.

Brazil is a case example of why smarter blacks are even more dangerous than dumber ones.

Thanks for posting that story. Jesus fucking Christ… that literally sounds like a military operation. The ‘bank robbers’ blocked all major roads, seized key infrastructure across the city, surrounded the military-police HQ and planted a dozen IED’s. And this has happened many times before?!? Apparently it’s just a normal thing in Brazil lol.

Looks like South Africa has some real competition as worlds most fucked up country. Bank robberies in Northern Ireland even weren’t that large-scale.

I'd like to see a breakdown of children who were adopted at infancy versus children adopted after age three or four. Also, what is the breakdown of children who were born from drug or alcohol addicted mothers, or even children who were neglected or abused?

This chart is compilation of multiple adoption studies. There is MTAS and the one of Korean kids in Belgium. It's weird they are included together because the other one did not have follow up at age 17. And the scores are supposed to be the average IQ at 7 and 17? I have the original book and the scores look quite different there.

Interesting that mulattoes have roughly the same IQ as whites when controlling for environment.
