Rep. Thomas Massie: The stimulus package that just passed is the biggest wealth transfer from common folks to the super-rich (Wall Street and bankers) in the history of mankind. Done in the name of a virus with $1200 checks as the cheese in the trap. This will be obvious in short order.

I read another thread saying basically they're paying all the big companies something like $8000 for every American (totaling hundreds of billions), while Americans themselves get $1200 per American. So the bailout is very corporate-centered (as expected). And the $1200 is just to get everyone to shut up about the $8000.

Yeh i don't think this was a corporate bailout so much as it was an in house payday for govt and govt employees. The last i checked was admittedly a couple of days ago, but it was broke down basically like this:
Oops, just checked again..
That was a partial layout to the original. They apparently modified it slightly. Here's the doc, i haven't had the chance to go through it yet because my state is now in lockdown, and the panic this has induced has made it impossible to get certain staples or other items and I've been searching for them because of this, beyond the obvious toilet paper that everyone has been hoarding for the past 2 weeks.

We are planning on moving away from what was once a considered a moderate or even right leaning state but is now is seemingly just a socialist/democratic stronghold once this is over. Write your governor and tell them to embrace federalism and the idea that they should be able to tell the feds to pound sand. There very well could be cause for needing federalism in the future.

Which kind of Federalism? The Neo-Hamilton kind?
[–]jamesK_3rd 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun - 4 years ago (1 child)
Any kind of federalism which returns power back to the individual states. The kind of federalism where a governor or a state senate says no to federal Medicaid expansion funding because they know it's bad.
Wasn't it the neo-hamilton federalist party that saw the rise of the blue/red parties.
Now I suppose we simply have a communist party and a blue party. That seems like a good place to start..

The Neo-Hamiltons were part and parcel of the banking scheme.

The senate and the president could've vetoed this garbage.

Since you seem ignorant, I'm gonna school you. CONGRESS is The House and The Senate. "libtard" is the banner of the weak. This is a grown up site, go back to Voat. (I'm guessing You're a Reddit refugee.)

Meh. The House is commonly, but yes erroneously referred to as Congress because of mental lapses; "Congressman" and people in the Senate are called "Senators". To be completely correct, you would have to call them collectively as "The United States Congress".
You are just a "HAHA gotcha" douche-nozzle prick. Just ask your boyfriend. Go back to your gender confused libtard utopia of reddit.

You use the word "Congress" when referring to The House, and I'M confused?! You make me laugh. Congratulations, your true nature is revealed and I can scroll right past all your nonsense from here on. Buh bye!

There are still many smaller businesses that might not survive. As unemployment numbers rise, even 'safe' companies will be incentivized to churn out older positions for new hires that will be cheaper due to mass unemployment.
Though to some extent, inflation will counter this, they will just not give raises and your salary will be worth less effectively.

We fuct. I probably wont get a check for more than a couple hundred dollars. There was for a short time discussion of a payroll tax holiday. Which I thought was a great idea but knew would never go anywhere.
