The only ethical use of a military is to defend ones country from invaders. Most countries, who call their armed forces "defense", fight over foreign resources and engage in pre-emptive warfare. Unless you are genuinely defending you country's sovereignty, by joining the military you are working as a mercenary for the people who run your country--no, not for your country; your government is not your country.

The rest is just propaganda to make people not realize they are sending their children to go to kill and be killed for wealthy elite and government interests.
