I completely agree with you. This ruthlessness is not just present in the ruling groups though, our capitalist economic system incentivizes predatory behavior and exploitation over mutual aid and cooperation in all facets of life. This is not an an endorsement of centralized communism ala Lenin and Mao, I am very afraid of that level of state power.
