Our brains are influenced by the forces of nature, while digital machines are usually shielded from them. No shield is perfect of course, but natural connection between our mind and the world is significantly stronger than it would be for AI.

Furthermore, our mind has a natural unrestricted ability to study itself, while for an AI, it would be restricted by its creators. Playing with numbers is easier than playing with the real world, but the potential is lower.

I don't think a shell like this would be able to attract a human type soul.
