Flat Earth, the Mandela Effect, and men did or didn't go to the moon fifty years ago, never to return, are also confusing. But I don't believe in either. As for going to the moon fifty years ago and then no more, I think it is very unlikely. It's all a hoax and has been for a long time.

No, it's just that NASA never saw an increase in their budgets (which I'm pretty sure they expected given their plans), while inflation continued and never stopped. So the poor bastards have to operate on a shoestring budget and even then are required to dabble in gay shit to show conformity. Also, 1965 was when the politics shifted from prosperity (arguable) to funneling as much money as possible into useless trash. I've posted this a few times already, but the entire population of US blacks has eaten about $30 trln (and that's just one money sink). NASA's budget is arooound $30 bil annually. Can you imagine if that money was directed to space?

I used to work out with a just-retired NASA engineer. He said that back when well-off high school kids had a PC-Jr at home, the space shuttles still had two Apple II computers. As you suggest, things just do not line up.

it is depressing how we didn't continue on the path that the future seemed to foretold. No flying cars. Our cities seemed to be growing, but the empire state building is from 1930 and the WTC were destroyed. Imagine back then thinking more and more skyscrapers would be built. Manifest destiny, imagine what that felt like. Now our civilization is declining. I think it was competition from the cold war, and socialism that didn't require money for everything just manpower and raw materials.

To be fair, flying cars are a gimmick and megapolises are pretty cancerous energy sinks. I suggest you check out WrathOfGnon on Twitter, you’ll learn a lot more about perennial urbanism.

I am a pretty big space nerd and I’m hurt even more than others by the realisation
