Come on. The Taliban destroying Buddhist statues isn't the same as BLM protestors taking down statues of slave traders.

Buddhist statues weren't harming anyone. Slave trader statues are.

Take a look at how Germany handles this sort of thing. They have statues of victims of the Holocaust, not the aggressors. This is the most appropriate way of paying respect to history. Could you imagine being a Jew living in Germany and having statues of Hitler and Goebbels in your local public park? That is how black people currently feel with slave trader statues in the US. Not sure how you couldn't side with them.

Sure it is. It's the same idea. This statue conflicts with my ideology, so I am morally justified in destroying it.

Buddhist statues weren't harming anyone.

Idolatry is forbidden in Islam.

Slave trader statues are.

How, exactly? Is the statue coming out at night and mugging people?

It's not harming anyone. It just offends extremists who think that they can push their extreme positions on everyone. And much like the Taliban, SJWs are supremely unpopular with pretty much everyone other than their own faction.
