I think the government is forcing the hand of many of these social media platforms. They can sneakily do it with non-law policies generated by a whim, from these intelligence agency enabled small and large police/FBI/DOJ overlords who have taken our democracy, thinking they are important intelligence operative while attacking domestic people (thanks Obama). Just look at the despicable and insane blaming of Facebook and others in the recent Senate hearing. They are not-so-secretly threatening these platforms, if they don't play ball with election manipulation, social manipulation, and generally maintaining the fake world pulled over the public's eyes while they are drained of the money in their pockets and the world is destroyed around them.
