Peterson has done a lot of good work, but he is 100% wrong about this. He's also called anonymous posters "scoundrels" and "fiends" and thinks people's online ID should be tied to their real identity. Again, completely disagree, but I don't think it invalidates everything else he's done.

I agree that he has done some good, I even followed him during his initiate assent to fame...this fact of the good he has done, specifically re: free speech advocacy, is even mentioned in the article, but he reversed course so severely over this issue....it really does seem as though he stands for nothing as he talks out of both sides of his mouth when it suits him....

Agreed on Shapiro, he always seemed sus.

I heard he was bought when he had fallen ill a few years ago, that might explain his reversal.

I heard that as well. No evidence, but it is strange he had such a prolonged, and quite severe, issues from withdrawals....and found the only cure in of all places....Russia?!

The whole thing was just odd.

I don't know why people obsess over a dictionary definition of 'woke'. It's like pornography, hard to define definitively but you know it when you see it.

Peterson abandoning the principals of free speech is hardly shocking. It's almost always a concept only championed by those not in power. Once the domain of the left, it has disappeared from their values and emerged as a right wing ideal, but it's only used when it's convenient and beneficial to a group at the moment.
