False. Safety first. Understanding motive might be of academic interest later, but it takes a backseat to the immediate avoidance of threat. It’s certainly not the victim’s burden.

Why would Kanye need to solve the puzzle for “why” any more than the person who chooses to sound the alarm on the correlation between pit bulls and violence?

Part of the challenge here is that the accusation has to do with manipulation of information. The crux of the issue isn't just "they did bad thing X", it's "when attempting to say they did bad thing X, you get bullied and censored". The messenger is vulnerable to this at the time of delivering the message, so unlike other issues it requires more sophisticated arguments to allow for a conversation to even begin.
