Porn isn't a substitute for therapy or psychological intervention. If someone fantasizes about rape or pedophilia, the answer isn't to give them the means to live out their fantasy in private. Eventually the fantasy loses novelty and can no longer substitute for the real thing. The answer is to intervene, help them understand why they experience this compulsion, and give them strategies to control and avoid impulses. Science has yet to identify a pedo or rapist gene, it's clearly nurture/psychological in origin, therefore treatment should be a priority, not just having society throwing up their collective hands and saying "haha they're just born this way, we just need to give them enough porn to satisfy their immutable sexual identity".

This is exemplified in a case involving a man, from Virginia who, while arrested after viewing lolicon at a public library computer, asserted that he had quit collecting real child pornography and switched to lolicon

Lol, taking a chomo at his word. Also, this is extortion. In a democratic society, you don't extort people by threatening to commit crimes against children. Chomos get the bullet needle.

A growing conclusion from the research evidence is that pornography does not lead to violence against women.

We already know this is garbage. Look up "we can't consent to this", look up all the idiotic initiatives to teach children "enjoyable" sex and counteract the influence of violent porn.

What are some good counter-arguments to the "if rape porn in animation, drawings and literature gets banned, the rate of rape might increase" argument?

The trans cult online both the male and female sides, is largely anime-driven. They do take their fetish outside and force it on people.

People who can not separate fiction from reality have some issues. Rape porn in animations, drawings and literature should not be taken away from the people that can separate fiction from reality

No, we limit people's access to potentially dangerous things all the time on the basis that a tiny minority can't handle them and would cause great social harm. Wannabe rapists don't get special pleading.

You can not ban rape porn in animation, drawings, and literature on the basis that

I literally don't care. We live in a culture where everyone who watches rape porn is a wannabe rapist. I'm not interested in catering to wannabe rapists.

It's not real people. It's just pixels. Real people are not harmed in making this

Yes they are, unless we're talking machine-generated youtube spam of yesteryear. Real people are making it, and real people are watching it, and from social media moderator lawsuits we know it fucks people up. We ban drugs, we can ban rape porn.

The drawn/animated rape porn is just a fantasy, what's wrong with having a fantasy?

Fuck off, rapist. (The person making the argument, not the OP.) Imagine you're dating someone and he (or she, let's not be sexist) tells you s/he fantasizes about brutally raping and murdering you, let's say the way Gertrude Baniszewski tortured and murdered Sylvia Likens. Still "what's wrong with it", eh?

Rape porn is just a fantasy. Jail is just a room.

In addition to this consideration, laws against pornography raise questions of freedom of speech. violates the freedom of speech and freedom of expression of the people that want to create

Oooooooh fuck off forever, rapist-Alcibiades. You know what violates the freedom of speech and creative expression? The COPYRIGHT LAW. You know how many small commercial projects would flourish if only they could get the (non-exclusive) rights to a major property? Creative expression is already regulated up the wazoo to shape the media landscape as we allegedly want it. Rapists don't get special pleading.

rape porn in animations, drawings and literature have an impact on the real world.

Everything "has an impact". Me walking into a cafeteria with industrial-strength perfume and ruining everyone's appetite because I had a cold "has an impact". A terrorist flooding the aircon with sarin and killing everyone in the building "has an impact".

There's also people who create this type of work to begin with (myself included) as a form of self therapy or an outlet for expression and exploration.

Can real-life rape have an exemption for "self therapy"? Obviously not. Does any real therapeutic technique include "imagine yourself raping someone"? None that I know of. And cut the fancy speak. Put it in plain English, rapist: "I want to express the joy of raping a person", "I want to explore raping a person". This calls for a neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedle.

I've seen lots of people claim that it is helpful, but I've been thinking about it a lot myself and I don't see how. For me there's similarities with self-harm, and in that case I understand that in the moment it might feel like a strange sort of distraction, relief or even comfort, but overall it's obvious that no healing is going to come through that path. Basically, I can understand why they might be doing this, but I don't think it's good for anyone, no.

My main reason for not bringing up arguments for this aspect of the rape porn debate is like I said, they're not a threat to anyone else. And I highly doubt that the support for the continued existence of rape porn in some form is for the benefit of this group. It seems more likely that people benefit from these people being around, because that gives them an excuse to keep rape porn around as well, with the added bonus of less scrutiny because now they can label it as a form of self-therapy or something.

If someone fantasizes about being raped, or if a survivor of rape watches or reads rape porn in animation, drawings, and literature, is it good for this someone to do that? Or should this someone stop because that doesn't help at all and is not really an outlet?

Can you help debunk these pro-rape porn in animation, drawings and literature arguments? And what are the arguments and evidence in defense of making the production and the watching/reading of rape porn in animation, drawings and literature illegal? by EverydayIsSad in antipornography

[–]firebird 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

An important distinction to make here is which side is talked about. Especially since at one point there's talk of it being self therapy. If it concerns a rape survivor who tries to deals with it by using rape porn from this perspective, that's something entirely different from someone whose fantasy is themselves raping someone.

A second thing that seems important to note is that it is known that porn in general always leads you further down the rabbit hole. You become numb to what you've been watching, and start looking for something more extreme, and this cycle keeps continuing. So even if (and that's a big if) this is just their outlet for now, it won't stay that way. I think there are sources on this phenomenon on this sub, if you're interested.

Third point: by watching this sort of thing, you're normalizing it for yourself. Just look at the abuse portrayed routinely in porn: there's more and more coverage and statistics about men starting to imitate these behaviours in the bedroom, while the women they're with never consented. If porn was merely an outlet, this stuff wouldn't happen.

Fourth: all these arguments essentially hinge on one thing, that having a fantasy of raping someone is somehow just part of someone's sexuality, or a kink, or whatever you want to call it. It is not, since rape has to do with power, not sex. Again, it's different if it's someone who has a fantasy about being raped, but I think we can agree they don't really pose a threat to anyone, so I'm assuming those are not the people whose arguments you are looking to counter.

The fifth point follows out of the fourth: if it's not part of a healthy sexuality, and if other people might get harmed because of it, the solution should be treatment of some sort, not to feed this fantasy. I don't think anyone has ever been cured of anything by engaging in the same harmful behaviour over and over again, even if it is in a different form.

While not completely the same, I think what is talked about in this article is similar enough, so I'm including it as a source that might interest you: https://filia.org.uk/news/2020/9/10/not-a-victimless-crime-how-child-sex-abuse-dolls-facilitate-crimes-against-children

This is all I could come up with right now, but I'm really tired so I'm sure there are things I missed that I hope someone else might be able to help you out with.

"Porn use exists as a self soothing media among low status males in an eroding patriarchy. Men can no longer through social and economic pressure force young women into marital servitude. Plenty of women are achieving high status above males (although we still have a ways to go) And women can now live independently from men. Studies are showing girls are doing better in school than boys are. Many religious denominations are now accepting female leaders. And other women are emancipating themselves from religion all together. Porn is among the last and most powerful bastion of male supremacy. No matter how unsuccessful, uncharming, unappealing and vituperative a man is, he can turn on porn at the end of the day and watch a women get raped for his entertainment."--Blackpillpriestess

Pornography was a heavy contributer in my sexual grooming and dehumanization from pre pubescence. My rapist showed me pornography as a means of introducing me to having sex with him when I was 13. He was 17-18 over the course of our relationship.

Porn reinforced the message from society that as a woman I was worthless. My rapist called me his loli. I was admired by him and his friends for my sexual maturity as he progressively coerced and later forced me into more and more extreme sexual acts. When I started to fight him during sex, he claimed that he was unaware that it was not part of our ongoing sex. I used to self harm heavily and sex became another method of hurting myself. When I finally left him after he forcefully penetrated me after I repeatedly told him no, he threatened me, stalked me, and made my life a living hell. He believed I belonged to (with) him. I believe his constant porn habit played a significant part in his predatory socialization as well.

Pornography is a multifaceted problem. Its a problem for the people that make it, act in it, watch it and for those that become addicted to it. The internet made it readily available to everyone.

Reddit’s “No Fap” sub has 654,360 members. If you read the posts, the vast majority state that porn has adversely affected their lives and made it difficult for them to have healthy sexual relationships with their partners.

This is their stated purpose:

“... is a moderated community-centered website that hosts challenges in which users...abstain from pornography and masturbation for a period of time ("rebooting"). Whether your goal is casual participation in a monthly rebooting challenge as a test of self-control, or whether excessive masturbation or pornography has become a problem in your life and you want to quit for a longer period of time, you will find a supportive community and plenty of resources here.

This forum is intended for porn addiction recovery and is not an anti-masturbation forum...”.

It's a good start for those who are starting to learn about the harms of pornography. I'd like to take it a step further and say pretty much all porn is coercion, aka rape. When money is involved, then you can forget about authentic and enthusiastic consent. Survival has entered the picture. And women are very often acting in porn videos to appear as if they enjoy it.... or they're straight up drugged. The presence of a camera, if anything, adds on to the pressure. It's a terrible industry all around because it can only exist by exploiting women's bodies.

Considering the industry PornHub is a part of, they should be well aware that there is a lot of potential for abuse in multiple ways. Considering that the topic of consent has become important the past years, I would say it's in Pornhub's best interest to be very strict about the content on their site, and to be very open about the way they're handling all this. Trying to shrug off any responsibility is honestly not a good look when it comes to stuff like this.

And of course stuff "inevitably" slips through when you don't even have a proper verification system in place. If anyone can just upload revenge porn on your site, I think it's safe to say your system has failed.

I'm here because porn scared the shit out of me when I was 19 year old virgin.

I had been fortunate enough to escape exposure in middle school and high school, thanks to my parents' vigilance. When I got to college and started my first relationship, I was curious about sex and wanted to learn more about it, specifically how to do it. So I sought out porn. Biggest mistake of my life. I didn't know violent sex existed. I didn't know men hit women or pulled their hair or strangled them, and that this was considered "normal." It upset me so much, it put me off having sex for several months. I couldn't bear the thought of my partner being aggressive like that.

Thankfully I was able to have a discussion with my partner and we worked things out. He's never been aggressive in any way and never would be. I trust him. But it upsets me to know how many men are violent because of porn and how many young girls are raised on this violence and see it as inevitable and no big deal, some even view it as healthy or feminist.

PornHub has rules against this kind of content, but since all their content is user uploaded (and so much of it is user uploaded), stuff inevitably slips through. That doesn't mean the site is facilitating sex trafficking.

Additionally, they described GirlsDoPorn as a "partner site", which is misleading at best. Any porn company can sign up for an account and pay to have their trailers promoted. I remember seeing some of those trailers, and their stuff was all fairly vanilla. What it turned out was that behind the scenes some of the girls were being deceived. Apparently they thought they were shooting private porn films that were sold to rich clients and never put on the internet, when in reality GirlsDoPorn was a hugely popular site and so these young women would be horrified to find out they were being seen by potentially millions of people. There was also talk of coercion where some would fly out to shoot but get cold feet and the producers would threaten to make them pay for the flight and hotel among other things. Also I think they would sometimes pay them less than was initially agreed upon.

There are a bunch of articles about the GirlsDoPorn situation if you want the details, I don't remember it all that well. But at any rate, I don't really see how any of this is supposed to make PornHub guilty of sex trafficking when there was no way they could have been aware of any of this.

Sex and masturbation are indeed things that are normal and natural. But porn isn't the same as sex or masturbation. That would be like saying that me watching an actor on a TV show pretend to murder another actor is the same as me actually committing a murder myself.

As for the rest of your comment, maybe you should read the sidebar of this sub. There's only one group explicitly mentioned as a target group of sorts for this sub (and considering the use of "our" I'm assuming the creator of this sub aligns with that perspective). GalaxyDeity also exclusively advertised to this group in one of their own communities. And unlike what you seem to think, this is not a religious group. But honestly, you should have been able to figure that one out yourself considering there are at least three atheists in this comment section alone. Of the other two commenters remaining, one is blatantly feminist, and the other appears to look at the topic from a scientific perspective. So I wonder, where are all these religious people and right wingers you keep preaching to?

Porn is only "good" for cooming, which is a self-perpetuating degenerate cult. Porn is unnatural: it's needed for masturbation when a coomer's body can't naturally keep up with an addicted coombrain. If you have a "perfectly normal", natural urge to masturbate, why do you need porn? Indeed, people with limited mental capabilities who have never been exposed to porn just grab their privates and go at it, to the dismay of caretakers.

And "celebrate" ejaculation? It's a body function. Why not "celebrate" other body emissions - piss, shit, phlegm? Disgust is natural. Our ancestors put it to good use avoiding disease. Religion may or may not be outdated, but the desire to avoid disease is as relevant as it's ever been. Ignoring this natural urge to chase a high we're not feeling that you arbitrarily insist is moral to feel -- that is absurd, irrational, and cultish.

Not a good sign when almost the entire first half of the video is her pointing out the negative sides of porn.

The first two points are pretty silly. Lots of things are arousing and lots of things are relaxing. (She ignores the fact that studies have proven habitual porn consumption decreases QoL (source: https://www.jsm.jsexmed.org/article/S1743-6095(15)33435-4/fulltext ) The third point is particularly egregious though. I'm LGBT myself and the representation of LGBT people in porn is almost entirely demeaning, dehumanizing, fetishistic and unrealistic. I feel like such horrible representation is honestly worse than none at all. The fifth point about it helping one's relationship is directly falsified by actual studies done on the subject which have consistently shown that regular porn consumption negatively affects relationships.

How dare anyone have sex without the goal of having children. So that is your beef huh?

Do you have any actual arguments or is this entire conversation just going to be you making up things I never said?

WOW! Right wingers are on a higher plane: they make a "logical distinction between sexuality and fetishes."

Well... yeah.

It's just so "logical" see? Anyone can see the difference between "sexuality" and "fetishes". How dare anyone have "fetishes"?

Sure, one example of such people being, you know, psychologists. Paraphilias are a scientific concept. Right-wingers didn't come up with that.

I don't know, ask a right-winger. Or a mainstream leftist for that matter, given how much TRAs love to dictate especially homosexual people's private lives, up to and including wanting to force lesbian women to be penetrated by penises. Pretty sick. Also idk how right-wingers think but I'm pretty sure if they saw "any kind of sexual expression as perversion" they wouldn't be having children - something they statistically do more often than left-wingers. They do have one over on left-wingers though in that they do make a logical distinction between sexuality and fetishes.

Sex is a natural part of life. Masturbation is perfectly normal. Both men and women enjoy porn. Enjoy and celebrate your sexuality. Don't let religious dogma and Christian Morality define your life for you. Christianity is just another fairy tale like Islam, Sikhism, Taoism, or Zoroastrianism. If there was indeed a God and if this God wanted you not to masturbate or celebrate sex, then I am sure with this God's power it would have been made so. The idea that this all-powerful God gave humans these desires but does not want them to satisfy these desires is Christian lies.

"All the links go to their petition or to their donation pages." You're conveniently ignoring the link that clearly has "sources" in front of it. It even tells you what section to scroll to.

"Many of the commentators"? I've scrolled through a whole bunch of them. Most were supportive. So far I've found only two who both weren't supportive and actually had some arguments to back themselves up. One of them never proved any of the stories false, just questioned the sources of the video, the other only talked about one of the stories and didn't prove that one false, either. That said, as an atheist, I'm honestly not a particular fan of the Christian element (like the praying) either, but that doesn't prove all that they say wrong. Other groups fight against the same thing too, most notably being the people who formerly worked in the industry.

If PornHub is hosting these videos, then it is certainly their responsibility to monitor whether the content of their own site is legal or not. They don't even have any age verification systems in place.

These are apparently petitions to raise hysteria, yet I've remained calm in this discussion and you've been the one with the emotional ad hominem attacks. Do you mean to say that these petitions raise hysteria in pro pornography people like yourself?

Regarding your last statements: there has often been a need for large groups of people to join together to have their voices heard. Petitions are one way to do that. As long as there is profit to be made, evidence is often not enough. I'd prefer to live in the just world that you're painting in your comment there, but we simply don't.

"without any links, sources or any kind of supporting evidence"? They left links in the description, leading to their site with even more links to other sources. They have documentaries on their channel for you to watch. All this was provided with the video I posted. So far, that's already way more proof than you've provided, because all you've done is respond emotionally and make personal attacks.

If you genuinely don't want to debate this topic with some actual arguments, then I don't know what you're doing on an antipornography sub. Of course we're going to disagree with you here. It's up to you whether you can handle disagreement civilly or not.

It's their right and freedom to launch a website, sure, but not if it comes at the cost of another person's human rights. And in this case, that's definitely the cost.

And if you're so against the taxes needed to investigate this kind of thing, why did you suggest going after the traffickers in your first comment? Surely that would require the same thing. Seems to me like the only constant here is that you want to keep pornhub alive.

it's not a waste of resources because you don't directly have to pay for the police to investigate and take down websites, tax payers do, and we are forced to pay taxes, thats not freedom, how about you talk about the theft the government takes its citizens via taxation

ensures people's freedom? what about the freedom of website administrators, it's their right and freedom to launch a website, we dont need you or any government trying to tell us our website is wrong and trying to take it away from us

thats what china does, they ban websites, and take down whatever they dont agree with

thats not freedom

the root of the problem is the monetary problem, how the central banks have unlimited money and a currency not backed by anything other than military might

you should be using your full resources to go after the root of the problem, or at least you can work with pornhub to see information about whos uploading the videos of trafficked girls

society will not be better off without pornhub because another pornhub will popup in minutes

if you target pornhub they will just move to a new website, you can use the pornhub as a website to gather evidence,

go after the root of the problem, pornhub is not the root of the problem, its goes much higher then them

Yeah, I do a lot of work for anime/video game stuff and there's been this slide into porn-ificaton of everything. Slap an anime girl 10 year old's face on that and it just gets deeply uncomfortable. I do what I can to alter client designs or use SFW ones to show that characters don't have to be ultra sexy to be appealing.

My publicly posted rules are incredibly strict and detailed but lewd projects still get through as they test the boundaries of what work I will take. There's definitely a desensitization effect with the over-use and mainstreaming of porn into animation, games, and comics.

I'm still unable to believe how violent they were in the bedroom and how they believed it was absolutely okay to replicate what they saw in porn without even bothering to check for consent first! Anything from deepthroating to anal and even hitting and chocking.

Hey! Hello. I'm happy to see this sub. I just came by to say that.

Why am I here? I guess I have mixed feelings about, um, "pornography". I'm not sure how I feel about all "sex work," I hear there were nice "sex work" or whatever you want to call it stuff in the past. Idk that it's all bad. "Pornography" though I'm not a fan of, I think it's a degrading, desacrilizing practice. "Porn" means "prostituted slave" and I think the current activities and aesthetics of the pornography scene or movement or whatever you want to call it, are the continuation of that.

How has pornography negatively affected my life? Probably messed up my familymaking behaviors to some degree, though it's hard to tell.

Thank you for making this sub! Is the one on reddit still going? Why did you decide to make this sub here?

I hate how people pretend it's not harmful (for both men and women) and I hate how everyone is so ready to defend it and to doubt anyone that questions if the woman in the video is consenting. It's exploitive and disgusting.
