All in the name of keeping us safe most people will accept tyranny. Like the prisoner who has the key to the cell and a loaf of bread within reach of a stick. He chooses the bread and not the key because being fed is more important than his prison.

They couldn't. Even in China where they are very autocratic they were forced to reverse their COVID policies following mass citizen uprisings.
