By retarded do you mean it looks ridiculous or it looks fake? Given what we know of the weapon it doesn’t seem at all unlikely that the first shot either missed or was not ejected with adequate speed to do any damage, nor is it strange that people wouldn’t immediately think that that sound was someone firing a gun.
