I completely agree that if one is serious about the measures that would be implemented then people aren't going to willingly give up their current lifestyle but for Gods sake don't let Germany be the one to bring up eco-dictatorship.

I don't agree.

The majority of environmental work is done by ordinary people, usually boring, uncool people like mums and dads sorting through the rubbish for recycling and making green choices at the shops while their woke extinction rebellion kids sit around eating ultra processed food, ordering clothes shipped individually form China and burning through the electricity.

Most of those in politics seeking to impose rules on the rest of us have the latter lifestyle which they themselves don't intend to change. Their impetus to dictatorship is that they imagine the majority of people are a scary mob of chaotic animals rather than mostly hard working, well meaning people who will do their best to protect the earth if they are given the tools, info and means to do that.
