Though I have deep reservations about Israel's treatment of Palestinians, that's not a line in the sand for me while he gets so much else right, imo. I find his statement disappointing but not surprising.

I find his statement disappointing but not surprising.

I'm against his statement, and while it disappoints me, I'm also filled with a strange sense that he might actually be a more viable candidate overall because of it, and that his campaign is more real, even as an independent candidate, than I had thought (in spite of my hopes).

It is a line in the sand for me when taking into account what this means when it comes to what he'd be doing if elected. This isn't just about Palestine.

That level of fanatical unconditional and unquestioning support for a terrorist state, when added to the power that the Zionist lobby has in the US, means that he'd obey them first and only start caring about all the things he's getting right afterwards, if allowed.

Which would make him just another establishment authoritarian warmonger.

This affects his positions on everything else, because his willingness to do anything else would be conditioned on whether nobody from that lobby tells him not to do it because Israel wants it so.

I can see the reasoning that brings you to that conclusion. It's early days in this round of election theater for me. I see zero chance of important change through the ballot box. All I know now, and have known since 2016, is that I won't be voting for either duopoly flavor, if I vote top of ticket at all. I'm still listening to RFK Jr. when he aims at deserving targets, and I'd listen to Jill Stein if she sought the Green nomination again.

Oh absolutely, this is all purely rhetorical, he's not going to be elected anyway.

Which kinda makes this even worse. He's pre-rolling over and announcing his willingness to be controlled by absolutely abhorrent special interests... for no reason whatsoever.
