Gaetz was also on Timcast 8 months ago (after McCarthy had just won the speakership) where he explained what his demands and expectations were for McCarthy in the speakership role The thread is good in establishing how Gaetz has appeared to set an early agenda for a better, more accountable speakership, but it's also a bit annoying in chopping up the video into too many short segments (in my view).

Anyway, here's the thread :

Also, here's Matt Stoller on Gaetz :

My unpopular take is that Matt Gaetz is very smart and motivated by policy aims.

Matt Gaetz is probably the most aggressive R on antitrust and commercial surveillance, and he wants to end arbitration agreements. I've watched him in hearings and markups in my area, the guy knows what he's doing.

And say what you want about the policy aims, but Gaetz successfully stripped out Ukraine money and that has fundamentally changed the geopolitical situation. When was the last time someone meaningfully governed foreign policy from Congress?

Obviously most of Gaetz's policy aims - spending cuts, impeachment, etc - are in my view bad, but they aren't fake. He just doesn't care about the norm fairy.
