RFK Jr. To Run INDEPENDENT

How does he get on the ballots?

Mediaite says independent. There's a bit more at Breitbart, including links to the NYT story last week that speculated about a Libertarian run, with comments from Angela McArdle.

Libertarian run

That makes the most sense.

@RobertKennedyJr:

Save the Date, Save the Country.

So... I'm guessing Jimmy is seeing this as the announcement that RFK will drop the DNC non-primary and will be running in the libertarian party?

Do we have anybody around here who knows anything about that party? Wondering about the whole ballot access thing and whatnot.

And if RFK does do it, well...

On one hand, GOOD.

On the other hand, about FUCKING time. We tried to tell you right from the start...

And if it's not that and he still remains within the duopoly, then he's just a complete joke.

(and of course, still waiting on him owning up to his Israel bullshit, because weirdly enough, him being all-in for zionism is still a major issue)

waiting on him owning up to his Israel bullshit

And his misunderstanding (??) of the Ukraine - Russia issue. Believing the Russia bad/Ukraine good narrative makes me question his understanding of our foreign policy, and geopolitics in general, which is essential for the next president in order to change course on our national self destruction in our attempt to destroy Russia and (ultimately) China.

( The whole video brings back memories of videos of Bernie’s early 2016 campaign, even down to talking about “corruption”. so I hope that RFK Jr isn’t just another cuck like Bernie. )

Yeah, he's buying into way too much of the establishment bullshit for my tastes. He doesn't understand the corruption of his own party, doesn't understand US foreign policy, clearly doesn't understand Israel, ...

Isn't he at least supposed to know how to surround himself with people who are competent at those things when he isn't?

You’d think.

That's the rumor I've heard, too. Most of us regard the Libertarian Party as a sort of laissez-faire, economically right-leaning party, and for decades it has been. Kennedy will certainly run from the left, but I don't imagine that will be terribly contentious in a party that no one would characterize as doctrinaire.

I'm still not convinced that our way out of this mire is via electoral politics, and Bernie Sanders is the very last instance of my hitching a wagon to any candidate in hopes of a savior. In the words of the late, great Tina Turner, "We don't need another hero." Best of luck to Mr. Kennedy, but he'll have to earn my vote. I'm watching very carefully to see where this might go.

After Bernie, twice, I'm convinced it's not.

If RFK finally wakes the fuck up, runs outside of the duopoly and starts really running against the duopoly and moving the mainstream discussion that way, good, go for it. But that's really the most I'm hoping for, and based on his willingness to bend the knee to Israel, I'm not even holding that much hope for him anyway. Same with West and his insistence on treating the blue team as better than the red team.

The only point that this election can possibly serve is if at least one media-covered candidate runs as an unabashedly anti-duopoly candidate. A candidate who tells people, without ambiguity, that the duopoly is not their only choice. That they do have choices, but they have to seize them, and in order to do that, they have to stop looking at CNN/Fox forecasts of some upcoming election and instead look at their neighbor, and help there.

What's needed isn't a third-party candidate who's going to win in 2024. What's needed is a third-party candidate who's willing to go against the duopoly, without making any distinction between red or blue, and push the conversation towards mutual aid, civil actions, doing town halls and getting people from completely different neighborhoods but with similar issues to talk about their problems and discover that they actually all share the same issues, coming from the same place.
