It never ceases to amaze me how little imagination people have when it comes down to it. Their knee jerk reaction is to defend the oligarchy and whine about immigrants. What would people do if they didn't have identity politics to fall back onto to hold them upright? There is no way in hell "net zero" is going to happen. The oligarchy as it exists today would cease to exist. The oligarchy placates the dummies with empty net zero promises while constantly expanding petroleum production. The oligarchy simply intends to run out the clock and let the poor people wipe each other out fighting over diminishing resources.

The oligarchy has conservatives chasing their tail worried about "open boarders". The boarders are already open by design. The oligarchy wants a steady supply for their slave labor industries. They have no intention to close them. If the oligarchy wanted it closed they have the power to demand their servants in the government stop destabilizing and overthrowing governments replacing them with US stooges. People do not travel to the US illegally just to scrub toilets for pennies on a whim. It's migration through terrorism as directed by the oligarchy. People want boarders to "close" yet don't have the imagination to see past the fact that building a great wall of the US isn't going to work. It's all directionless insecure people swinging at shadows just as the oligarchy want from us.

Conservacucks are dumbasses, because if they weren't they would switch sides and join the immigrants against the urbanite douchebags who contribute nothing to society

Wow, that picture is both horribly depressing and undeniably true.

The oligarchy wants a steady supply for their slave labor industries.

I predict more lockdowns particularly in cities like NY and LA where shut in people will be stressing the home delivery gig economy to the limit, this is the workforce for that.

Say what you want, the menu was exquisite:

blue lobster and crab followed by Bresse poultry and a gratin of cep (Porcini?) mushrooms prepared, respectively, by French chefs Anne-Sophie Pic and Yannick Alléno, both awarded three Michelin stars. The cheese course will feature France's Comté and Britain's Stichelton blue cheese. For dessert, world-famous pastry chef Pierre Hermé will prepare his rose macaroon cookie, composed of rose petal cream, raspberries and lychees.

Even so, I can think of one improvement: replace the macaroons with Macrons

EDIT

oh haha!

it's even more humdrum than I thought!

shellfish is diced into a cake with a veil of fresh almonds and rooster mint.

but hey! that's some carbs from breadcrumbs at least lol.

Corn-flavoured.... poultry??? i can't imagine wtf this means, except maybe they rolled it in unprocessed masa and it's really fried chicken???

"with the scent of corn"

oh nvm just an added essence in basting or something, not even real corn

i stand corrected- there is real fruit served with that cheese, kinda

...accompanied by a mirabelle plum-based jelly.

wait- desert cookie is just stuffed with flavored buttercream frosting??? oh wow

but they separated out the lychee fruit into a sorbet, so there's that...

Dunno, it seems rather skimpy and simple to me. Just a bit of fancy names used for a small meal:

Shellfish appetizer, no extras with it

Chicken or similar, with mushrooms and melted cheese.

Two small amounts of strong smelling cheeses.

A dry hard small cookie with cream and fruit filling.

Not even a real veggie, any carbs, or proper fruit served.

That's what fancy food is 🤷🏾‍♂️

It's not just about the quantity of ingredients, it's about the quality

Funny how we don't see any bugzz on that menu.

Lobsters and crabs are just large bugs — arthropods, if you want to be fancy.

I actually mentioned this at dinner out at a legacy French (irony alert!) place last Sunday- somehow, dealing with yucky biting bugs at home came up with the other guests and scorpions were discussed...

Another made a vague observation- as two of us were eating shellfish main dishes- that they look like lobsters to her, just on land...

Shocked reactions, dismissal... then me piping up with Yes, they are both bugs, like these shrimp on my plate too- all shellfish are bugs that live in salt water.

Her husband then snorted out a laugh as dead silence reined.

Gotta say though, OUR French meal was hella nicer than the above one:

Miniature fresh baked loaves of sweet french bread and fresh butter

Baked Bellini mushroom caps with a Gruyere and herbs stuffing in melted butter base and fresh tarragon on top

Fresh scallops and coast shrimp roasted with butter, cream and Monterey Jack cheese in scallop shells

Parchment wrapped salmon with a delicate dilled butter baste

Slow roasted beef ribs, tomato puree and honey glaze

Yellow baby potatoes au gratin with a heavy cream base

Saffron Basmati rice with herbs.

Fresh garden baby carrots, zucchini, and red bell pepper, julienned then steamed tender and drizzled with herbed butter

And desserts.... an entire patisserie of fresh made authentic rich choices!

Everyone chose 2 from the case, lol, and somehow no duplicates at the table. Macaroons? Bah! Nothing so simple 😹😉

Sparkling water, a Mty County bright Chardonnay, and a sweet Rosè rounded things off.

Better yet- even with high local taxes and my adding a very generous 35% tip my total was just $60 💃 in our massively inflationary prices for food or meals out era.

Palace of Versailles

What you get when revolutions don't finish the job.

Pretty expensive, actually. I heard $40-120K. I can't afford that.

In the footage above, what's the actor Hugh Grant doing there?

On the topic of your comment. Did you ever watch this? It started out excellent ie enjoyable, but as soon as he acquired Madame de Montespan as mistress it starts to bog down. Inspite of over the top - too many - sex scenes the series eventually got the chop.

I don't Twitter, so no idea about Hugh Grant. Since he's usually IMO an insufferable asshole, I'm guessing the hosts decided he'd fit right in.

(I thought Hugh Grant was surprisingly good as Chopin in Impromptu, where he played a gentle spirit. He was also good in The Lair of the White Worm and Bridget Jones' Diary, both asshole characters.)

I never saw the BBC Versailles. I'm not royalist, so I don't care for the epitome of "it's good to be king". From what I've read, Louis XIV built the Hôtel des Invalides to get maimed war veterans off the streets where they exposed the horrors of war and risked making Louis' wars unpopular.

Hugh Grant became a celebrity for all the wrong reasons. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/features/hugh-grant-arrest-divine-brown-sex-worker-nine-months-elizabeth-hurley-a9584341.html

Then his ordeal with Murdoch https://www.huffpost.com/entry/hugh-grant-lawsuit-the-sun_n_6470a184e4b045ce2482993e

As for Versailles - did it represent truth? Somehow I doubt it, some of the narrative over stretched the imagination. BBC they did have this to provide context. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/5jPx75byxj2rptb50s5y5nC/versailles-a-guide-to-its-historical-accuracy

I watched Versailles to see how it would unfold. Originally when I tuned in I expected a serious documentary, but it was a soap opera. BBC Versailles 😂 was criticised for too many explicit sex scenes. In all honesty they were superfluous but whosoever made it thought otherwise.

'Versailles,' one of the most explicit TV shows finally canceled after viewers tire of the 'constant sex' , Jan 8, 2020

I've never seen Game of Thrones, but Versailles was certainly physical Olympics.

I think the thinking was "sex it up" how can it possibly go wrong? Someone obviously forgot - a good strong storyline needs no sex. A bad one starts to lose viewers pretty fast.

There's a movie by that name, circa 1973.
