He wants those F-35’s that the US has been dangling in front of him and he wants to be let into the EU.

He’s cut a deal. We’ll see if the US/West renege on that deal.

Any bets?? :)

Betting on the perfidy of the West seems to be as near as you can get to a sure thing these days.

Moon of Alabama has a good post about Vilnius: NATO's Big Climb Down

Here's the "money quote":

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg: "We will provide support to Ukraine for as long as it takes. Because unless Ukraine wins this war, there's no membership issue to be discussed at all."

b: Ukraine's victory in the war, which is unachievable, is now a main condition for its admittance to NATO. It wasn't what the Ukrainian government had wanted to hear.

When Ukraine has news that can be spun in a positive way, the MoA trolls descend in force. Not today. They must be in a state of shock, awaiting new spin.

Now, this will virtually put out the flicker of hope among the NATO Allies about political uncertainties within Russia hampering the Kremlin’s war effort. Quite obviously, there are no “cracks” to be seen anywhere on the Kremlin wall. Putin remains firmly in charge and the military operations to scatter the month-long Ukrainian offensive are succeeding beyond expectations.

Correspondingly, there is bound to be a greater sense of realism amongst the NATO Allies. Alas, momentous political decisions concerning European security were riveted on flawed intelligence.

The Americans had no idea about the capability of Russian weaponry or of the country’s defence industry, its seamless capacity to mobilise for a continental war, the mood of the Russian people, Putin’s strong power base with a consistent rating at 80% (more than double that of Biden), the Russian economy’s resilience to withstand sanctions, or the blowback from sanctions that eventually would devastate the European economies. ( bold mine )

Which is really weird, considering overstressed for 6 years and overworked these last 2.5 years random lefty citizen ME would have given a fairly correct opinion on virtually ALL OF THOSE POINTS with only a tiny amount of rechecking what I thought I already knew to be factual 💁🤔💅💃🙃

Thus, Biden thoughtfully touched down in London en route to Vilnius to mollify the UK that Ukraine cannot be the battleground of its “Global-Britain” dream. King Charles stepped in to smoothen the ruffled feathers in the US-UK “special relationship.”

This demented sack of shit isn't capable of doing anything thoughtfully.

Though you could bold this part in the following manner:

Thus, Biden thoughtfully touched down in London en route to Vilnius to mollify the UK that Ukraine cannot be the battleground of its “Global-Britain” dream. King Charles stepped in to smoothen the ruffled feathers in the US-UK “special relationship.”

In which case, the bolded parts make another sentence, with 'Vilnius' being the code word for some 10-12 year old that the useless british pest is himself quite fond of touching.

War and war profiteering.

That's what NATO is for after all.
