It's really sunk to new lows

Damn, if only it was possible to sticky others' comments. This one deserves to be all the way at the top.

Damn, if only it was possible to sticky others' comments.

Here's the workaround: Make a comment thusly:

A comment from [Person], that is worth staying at the top

[comment]

And sticky it.

In this specific example, just say it and sticky it. I'm sure that u/stickdog would understand.
Especially with this discussion further down the thread....

Done and done.

Perhaps next year another crew of amateurs can build yet another carbon fiber sub and take tourists down to view the remains of the Titan lying next to the Titanic on the ocean floor.

If enough rich people keep paying $250K a pop to do this, eventually our problems will be solved.

There are around 3,000 billionaires. It'll take too long.

Now 2,999. We need a can-do attitude, not this defeatism.

They should up the price to half a million each then, at least. The more stupidly expensive it is, the more billionaires will jump at the occasion to show just how much money they have.

They'll pay to have more subs built so they can all go fuck all the way d(r)own in bigger groups.

Best case for them would be that the sub imploded from the pressure.

Since the trip costs a cool quarter-million dollars, it seems to me that as the oxygen begins to be depleted, the occupants could determine which of the millionaires and billionaires is the least rich, then kill that millionaire to conserve oxygen. Then as it further depletes, kill the next-poorest millionaire, then the next, while they await rescue. You know, just like they do to us poors in this sick society.

Is there a video camera on-board recording all of this?

Sad for the 19 year old. Being only a beneficiary of the money but not actually owning it makes him the obvious first one to go. Well, unless he gets his father first I guess.

They could make multiple movies from this. Moneyhunger Games.

The people inside the missing Titan submersible are currently -sealed- flattened inside a(n) -airtight vessel- pancake.

The people who built this thing appear to have improvised, without the necessary materials and engineering to do this safely. There's a reason no one else is diving crewed submersibles to this depth, because it is exceedingly dangerous even with the best-built vessel. Even the Soviets AFAIK abandoned their submarine that could dive to great depths, and even they weren't crazy enough to go this deep.

David Pogue @Pogue You may remember that the @OceanGateExped sub to the #Titanic got lost for a few hours LAST summer, too, when I was aboard…Here’s the relevant part of that story. https://youtu.be/29co_Hksk6o

The footage of inside the vessel looks nightmare inducing to me.

Pogue said that he was hesitant about getting into the submersible in November because the equipment on board appeared to be "improvised" and "off the shelf."

"You steer this sub with an Xbox game controller, some of the ballast is abandoned construction pipes," Pogue told the BBC.

And there are billionaires and millionaires on board: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/who-is-on-missing-titanic-submarine-passengers-hamish-harding-shahzada-dawood

Look... I believe in natural selection.

This is hard evidence in that.

They certainly wanted to put themselves high on that list.

God had to call them early.
